The final really nice touch is the inclusion of a full Slingerland Hardware pack to accompany the kit. The bass drum also has a gold Buddy Rich signature commemorative badge.
The kit is fitted with the Black and Oval classic style Slingerland badges, stunning chrome hardware with Slingerland Etched hoops, all the heads are the original Buddy Rich Legend coated heads (top and bottom) and the bass drum logo head has the iconic BR crest.

This kit is the second in the production run and probably the first kit available commercially for sale running serial numbers 0006 - 0010. We are not sure if Buddy ever had a solid shell snare from Slingerland, however this certainly is a drum we are sure he would have approved of.Įach drum commissioned in this very limited run was sequentially serial numbered, the first kit ran serial numbers 0001 - 0005. A very nice touch is the solid shell Maple wood snare drum. The shells on the bass drum and toms are 6 ply Maple exactly the same as the shells Buddy would have played and in his iconic sizes too. There were periods where Buddy used Ludwig, Rogers and even Fibes drums but his times away from Slingerland were brief and it was right and fitting that Slingerland would be the company to commission a tribute signature drum set.Īs you would expect this kit is finished in White Marine Pearl, the original WMP wraps used on these kits were notoriously not very durable so this kit benefits from a recent professional rewrap which has been carried out to factory spec standards. Buddy never varied his iconic set up always opting to use the same sizes and colour. Throughout the majority of his professional career Buddy had a long time relationship with Slingerland Drums. Over the years Buddy has topped all the best drummer polls and lists as the world's greatest ever drummer and whenever top flight players are asked about influences you can rest assured that the name Buddy Rich will be mentioned.
Buddy also led his own big band which enjoyed incredible success for over 20 years right up until the time of his death in 1987. The quality of the shells and detail that went in to this kit are just incredible.īuddy Rich is a drummer who needs absolutely no introduction! At the age of 6 he started his solo drumming career as Traps The Drum Wonder from there he went on to become the greatest big band drummer of all time playing with a who's who list of elite bands and artists such as Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald & Dizzy Gillespie.
During the Nashville period ('95-'98) Slingerland were making probably the best drums they had ever made under the guidance of Sam Bacco and Pat Foley. A kit literally fit for a King! Here we have an extremely rare Buddy Rich Signature kit made by Slingerland in Nashville, Tennessee circa late 1990's.
